As I sub this post on Cracker the Michael Jackson memorial may be over and while I render commiserations to the Jackson family for their loss especially at an age which may be considered as tender for the purpose of passing, I'd like to comment on the quality (not considered nowadays as much as the quantity in sales) of his musical talent as compared to other super stars (or stars) of the past and/or present.
Firstly the claim that MJ belongs alongside Elvis Presley and the Beatles in musical talent/genius is simply...ludicrous. I can name at least 5 Afro-Americans wholse musical talent would be recognised as being far superior. Lois Armstrong.....Otis Redding...Stevie Wonder ( still living)...Sam Cooke...James Brown. There may be more. Are they up there with Elvis and The Beatles?. And what of the title tag...King of Pop? Does this mean that Elvis was King....BUT not of pop? Or does it mean that there are two kings now...Elvis and MJ?
You know the music /entertainment industry must have a giant hold on the planet and no one dares in contradicting it. For example did you know that although this publicity regarding MJ's passing involves much emotional sadness on the part of millions of people..it is also of enormous benefit to the music/entertainment industry where it stands, due to this publicity, to reap, posthumously, billions of dollars in CD/DVD MJ sales all over the planet. You can actually feel this suppression by the music/entertainment industry here in Australia. On every radio station disc jockeys credit every recording performer as having musical talent. None are mediocre. All are excellent! This is inspite of the clear fact that if the general population not only in Australia, but throughout the world had any discerning musical tastes...three quarters of the artists whom the music/entertainment industry pushes on record/videos.....would be ....flops!
The radio stations and others in the industry who depend on their income from this source may be afraid to speak up...but I ain't You see I am more at liberty than they are...as I only depend on my income from Centrelink (Pension)....and this organisation does not give a sh**t whom I criticised...I still get my money every fortnight.
