Our client has a great opportunity for a BI Analyst Programmer to join their team on a permanent basis. Working within large IT team this role will see you responsible for the development, maintenance and support of reporting and BI solutions in (Cognos, Teradata Data Warehouse, MapInfo & Informatica) across a number of business units.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining and supporting Business Intelligence infrastructure
• Ensure prompt resolution of all incidents and requests for data extracts
• Analyse customer needs, write functional and technical specifications (where required) and design and develop BI solutions
• Provide technical training to customers when required
• Keep up to date with relevant developments and trends in data warehousing and identify alternative technology solutions
• Continuous process improvement of business opportunities through BI application enhancement and development.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 3 years + commercial experience working with Cognos against Data Warehouse
• 2 years + experience in Data Warehouse design
• Solid understanding of data warehousing products and concepts
• High level proficiency with Cognos Business Intelligence Suite (both at an administrator level and developing cubes, reporting the dashboards in Cognos)
• Experience in analysing and documenting business requirements, preparing functional and technical specifications and designing and implementing business intelligence solutions in Cognos
• Demonstrated experience with designing, building and maintaining data warehouses to support Cognos Business Intelligence Suite
• Demonstrated experience with ETL tools, preferably Informatica
• Familiarity with a variety of SQL compliant database platforms
• Strong SQL programming skills
• Some experience with scripting and interface languages
• Certification in Cognos 8 or equivalent experience
• Excellent communication skills and an ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Desirable:

• Experience with Teradata
• Working knowledge of GIS methodologies and technologies
• Understanding of ITIL principles
