On 6/3/07 I booked my Land Rover Discovery into Parnell LPG gas conversion to have LPG fitted. The date of the conversion was to be 17/5/07. I was given a written quote of $2,750.00. On 17/5 I dropped the car off at 7.30 a.m. At 4.00 p.m. that day I recieved a call from Parnells saying that because the car was a manual and not auto. that a different system had to be fitted and that the new cost was to be $4,450.00. I declined. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
It is acknowledged that the issue jcd19679 reported with regards to his quoatation did take place, however, there is additional information that should be provided here. The first is that all Manual EFI applications that are quoted on, are done so with the Vapour Sequential Injection System. In the circumstance of jcd19679 this vehicle could have been converted with a conventional LPG system, however, we choose not to proceed due to the potential of backfire problems with conventional LPG systems on manual applications. It is acknowledged that this situation could have been handled better, however, certain measures have been implemented by the company to ensure this circumstance is not repeated in the future. For additional information relating to backfires and LPG please feel free to contact Parnell LP Gas Systems direct on 1800 33 4861 or by e-mail parnell@parnell.com.au - thank you.
Its good to see parnell are on here to back them selves up. Thats really sad. How many other forums are they on? I called them a week ago and tried to book in a car for a service. I'm still waiting for them to call back and thats after two attempts. The arrogance you get from them is unbelievable. Its funny how no one signed the comment reply above. "It is acknowledged that this situation could have been handled better, however, certain measures have been implemented by the company to ensure this circumstance is not repeated in the future." - Yeah Right - Dont use parnell.
