I install Softmii V2.1, Bootmii and the Homebrew chanel for all model Wii consoles without voiding the warranty and no soldering required. This will region free your Wii and also allow you to load emulators. If you wish to have your region changed this can be done also. e.g Japanesse language menu's to English. No need for a modchip to be soldered on the motherboard and your console left unopened.

I upgrade to System Menu 4.1 before applying the softmod to the Wii. Once on 4.1 its advised to stay on this system menu and not upgrade to 4.2. If already on System Menu 4.2 i can still softmod at this version.
