As part of Conservation Volunteers Australia’s carbon offset planting, local tree planting project swill contribute to the ongoing rehabilitation various sites around North Queensland. Well over 10,000 trees will be planted on riparian sites where they will grow for at least 70 years to sequester carbon.
All CVA’s carbon forest sites will also deliver significant biodiversity outcomes so a variety of local endemic species will be planted. “This biodiversity encourages fauna and provides a valuable seed bank for future generations, as well as contributing to the continued improvement of this iconic area”, said project officer Brett King
